After 10yrs since VJ Mandala and Zen Paradox (Steve Law) had collaborated live at the Psy 20th anniversary club event, they came together once again in a live-stream event to celebrate the 30 Sonic Years anniversary of Psy-Harmonics. See full event video and description here.
One of the tracks within the Zen Paradox 1:20hr mix, a masterpiece titled ‘Clathrate Gun’, was extracted and audio restriped to be represented here as a standalone music-video piece.
The VJ mix to track was predominantly created using an animation sequence of a outlined square zooming in. This animation was triggered to continually restart playback using midi note triggers placed alongside the audio track playback via Ableton. Animation was then manually augmented live using various effects, complimenting Clathrate Gun’s intense sonic onslaught by creating the hypnotic stark graphic shards aesthetic.
