The 2025 Tribeadelic gig headlining Tsuyoshi Suzuki was complicated gig in terms of planning, setup and execution.
The Prince Bandroom hosted a 96×64 ENTTEC Smart PXL 60 Dots LED ceiling grid controlled by 8x Octo’s, which normally run off Enttec’s ELM s/w.
I was new to using this LED tech, but the Production Manager Tye Pennington was incredibly forthcoming in allowing full access to venue tech for testing. With support of lighting tech Lachie from Eventcraft, who was the lead designer/installer for the LED build; Madmapper was configured to send DMX data to LEDs via sACN. And as backup ELM was configured to take visuals via NDI. Due to the way ELM handled NDI compression, Madmapper was used in the end for it’s true 16bit colour accuracy.
In addition to LED’s, there was a portable 3mtr rear projection screed setup on stage where a 6K Epson was used. Video signal was sent via HDBaseT along Cat6. Projector was also connected to WiFi to enable remote lens control. A second 3.5K BenQ projector was also used to projection map onto Steve Howden’s inflatable Lotus Petals on stage. Video signal was sent via NDI over venues WiFi network.
Resolume running on an Alienware was used to drive all visuals. One layer group was sent via Spout into Madmapper then DMX out to LEDs – another group was sent to main Epson projector via HDBaseT. Either layer group could be sent LEDs via DMX and via NDI to BenQ via Advanced switching.
Five midi controllers were used to trigger either FX and clips directly in Resolume and/or midi clips in Ableton, which in-turn drove Resolume output on all output sources.
Several students from my RMIT Operate Complex Vision Systems class helped to setup and operate on the night. Overall, a really fun gig to work on – friendly ol skool punters, Ozzy’s a really chilled promoter and the music was world class!
A punter took the liberty of recording, editing and publishing footage of the night within 2 days. Enjoy!
